Mother's Day Pasta Heart Craft

Here's a great looking Mother's Day craft made from a colorful paper plate and dried pasta.

Materials:

• colorful paper party plate
• dried macaroni
• dried split peas in yellow and green(or other beans or seeds)
• white glue
• magnet sheet(optional)

Directions:

1. Draw a big heart on the paper plate with glue.
2. Place macaroni on top of the glue.
3. Write "MOM" with the glue in the middle of the heart.
4. Place split peas on the glue. Alternate the colors for each letter. Allow to dry.
5. You might also cut a large piece from a sheet magnet and glue to the back of the plate and put on the refrigerator.

Paper Plate Pasta Face Mask Craft

 Here's a simple idea to make a face mask craft using a paper plate and pasta. This is a fun craft when teaching about the parts of the face or "myself".

Materials:

• paper plate
• marker or pen
• various kinds of raw pasta, macaroni
• glue

Directions:

1. Talk about the different parts of the face. Show pictures and demonstrate how to draw a simple face.
2. Give each student a paper plate and have them draw a face.
3. Then let them glue pasta on all the features of the face, shells for the eyes, curved macaroni for ears, twisted pasta for hair, etc. Allow to dry.
4. Students have fun showing their new faces.

Dinosaur Bones Skeleton Craft Activity

Here's a great looking cut and paste craft activity about dinosaurs. Cut out the pieces from the template, glue them together on a piece of construction paper and add pasta.

Materials:

• dinosaur skeleton template(see below)
• construction paper background
• dry pasta
• glue
• scissors

Directions:

1. Print out the template from the website below.
2. Cut out the pieces and glue together on a piece of colorful construction paper.
3. Glue on pasta for the bones. Alternatively, students simply color the bones yellow.

Colorful Pasta Counting Craft

This is a fun and easy craft that is also part of a math lesson.

Materials:

• various kinds of pasta(theme kids pasta is great)
• various colored paints
• piece of construction paper
• marker
• white glue

Preparation:

Beforehand paint different kinds of pasta in bright colors and let dry.

Draw circles each piece of construction paper.

Directions:

1. Review counting with the children until the target number(in this case 5). Each paper has 5 circles.
2. Pass out a piece of paper with circles to each child.
3. Show them the colorful pasta and place them on the table in shallow dishes.
4. Have each child practice by taking 5 of each kind of pasta, counting as they do. Alternatively. if you pass out the prepared number of each pasta to the kids have them all count the pasta out loud to check.
5. Have them glue the same kind of pasta into the circles counting as they do. Allow to dry.
6. Display you math art.

The same activity can be done with other numbers or other cute, countable objects.

  

Easy Paper Plate Christmas Wreath Craft

 This is a cute and easy Christmas wreath you can make from a paper plate. Great for your kindergarten class.

Materials: For each child, prepare:

• one paper plate
• short length of red ribbon
• cute ribbon, macaroni, or shell pasta and Christmas theme pasta (if you can find it.)
• red, green, and white tempura paints.
• glitter glue or glitter
• paint brushes

Directions:

Before the craft:

1. Paint the pasta red and white, allow to dry.
2. Cut the center out of the paper plates, one for each child.
3. Punch a hole at the top.
4. Put students' names on the paper plate.

With the kids:

1. Have the kids paint their paper plate ring green on both sides.
2. Put on colorful pasta around the ring. (The paint should act as a glue)
3. Sprinkle on glitter or put on lines of glitter glue, allow to dry.
4. Help the students loop the ribbon through the hole at the top and hang up your wreaths.

You can decide how much you want the kids to do themselves. If they do everything, it should be in two parts. To cut the middle out of the paper plate, bend the plate in the middle without folding. Then cut a slit from the middle to the inner edge of the ring. After that, open the plate and start from the slit to cut around the edge. The green paint should act as a glue for the pasta and the glitter. Have fun.
