4th of July Uncle Sam Hat Craft

Make an Uncle Sam hat to wear or as a centerpiece at your next Indeendence day party.

Materials:

  • empty oatmeal container
  • large paper plate
  • pencil
  • scissors
  • red, white, and blue construction paper
  • glue
  • tape

Directions:

  1. Cut a 2.5x17.5 inch strip of blue construction paper. Turn the oatmeal container upside down and glue around the bottom. There wil probably be a small ridge around the lip of the oatmeal container opening. This can be used later to hold the brim in place.
  2. Cu 1x9 inch strips of red and white paper and glue around the container above the blue field.
  3. Cut out several white stars and glue on to the blue field. You can use the star template from the link below.
  4. Trace the oatmeal containr on red paper. Cut out the circle and glue to the top of the hat.
  5. Trace the container onto the middle of a paper plate. Cut out the circle to make the hat brim.
  6. Slip the brim down over the container. It should rest on the ridge of the opening. Tape in place if neccessary.
