Valentine's Day Elephant Craft

It's amazing what you can make with just a few hearts. This heart elephant is just the ticket if you're looking for an alternative to the same old Valentin's day crafts,

Materials:

• 3 medium sized hearts from purple construction paper
• 1 "j" shaped trunk piece from purple construction paper
• 3 small heart stickers or pink hearts for the inner ears and end of the trunk
• 2 google eyes
• purple pen
• glue

Directions:

1. Cut out all pieces beforehand.
2. Glue together the three hearts as shown, then add the trunk piece on the back.
3. Glue on eyes and little pink hearts.
4. write message on the trunk with purple marker.

Spoonful

Easy Hand Print Elephant Craft.

This is an easy and cute elephant you can make from a hand print cut out.

Materials:

• sheet of blue construction paper
• small blue construction paper oval
• crayons or colored pencils
• short piece of blue yarn
• tape
• glue

Directions:

1. Trace and cut out one hand print from blue construction paper.
2. The fingers are the legs, the thumb is the trunk. Draw an eye, details on the trunk, and a carpet pattern over the back for the saddle.
3. Fold the paper oval in half lengthwise. Put glue only on one side and put on the front for the elephant's ear.
4. Tape a short length of string on the back for a tail.

Paper Elephant Stand-up Craft

This is a cut elephant craft that stands on the table.

Materials:

• piece of construction paper
• markers
• scissors
• rectangular piece of felt
• decorations like paper stars, stickers, dazzle shapes
• glue
• tape
• short piece of yarn

 Directions:

1. Fold a piece of construction paper in half.
2. Use an elephant template or free hand draw an elephant shape starting at the fold.
3. Cut out the elephant so you have two identical shapes attached at the top. Do not cut the fold.
4. Cut two fan shape pieces for the ears.
5. Glue the pieces on either side of the head and fold back to make the ears.
6. Glue on a piece of felt over the top to make the elephant's saddle.
7. Glue decorations on the saddle.

You could have each child make an elephant of a different color and then line them up to make a circus parade. You could use the same concept for different animals.
