Cup Rocket Launcher Toy Craft

Here's a really fun rocket launcher toy craft made from 2 plastic cups.

Materials:

  • 2 plastic cups
  • 2 strong rubber bands
  • thick tape like masking tape or carpet tape
  • thick paper or construction paper
  • crayons
  • scissors

Directions:
  1. Cut 4 short slits in a cross shape on the rim of one cup.
  2. Cut 2 rubber bands, tie a knot in the ends and slip the ends into the slits to form an "X" inside the cup.
  3. Put some tape over the slits and ends to secure.
  4. Draw and decorate a rocket from thick paper and cut out.
  5. Tape your rocket to the front of the cup.
  6. Push the rocket cup down on top of another cup. Let go and the rocket shoots up.

  1. It is good to hear that there are do-it-yourself toys. Doing this kind of stuff can develop the skills and thinking skills of a child in constructing the desired toy. This rocket launcher toy is an easy one to do. I recommend it to all kids out there.

  2. Picture this. FELT 4-5" ornaments from the dollar store. Tap sparkle (Tempra) paints over them as they are laid out on a table. Teacher(that's me )places a 5x6 inch sheet of paper over the flat decoration. Stars, Reindeer or Ball. They are razor cut with good detail. The students uses one or two fingers to 'skate' across the paper until feeling the cold of the liquid paint (sensory awareness). The print is complete. Allow to dry overnight. Instead of rockets I plan to launch reindeer or fruitcake.
