Toilet Paper Roll Pinwheel Toy Craft

This creative toilet paper roll pinwheel craft comes from a Japanese website. The cardboard tube is strong, yet flexible and already has a curved shape, perfect for a pinwheel blade. Recycle a toilet paper roll into this fun, old-fashioned toy. The website features 6, 3, and 5 bladed versions of the pinwheel plus short demonstration videos. Also great for an Earth Day craft.

Materials:

  • toilet paper roll
  • scissors
  • stapler
  • disposable chopstick or thin dowel
  • pushpin

Directions:

  1. Cut the toilet roll in half lengthwise.
  2. Cut each half along the natural curve line into 4 pieces about 1/2 an inch wide.
  3. Staple or glue three blades together.
  4. Poke a hole in the middle with a pushpin.
  5. Cut a very short piece of straw to go behind the pinwheel.
  6. Push the pushpin through the straw and into the top of a chopstick or dowel.
