Hanging Laundry Clothes Paper Craft

Here's a cute summer craft to show laundry hanging outside. Good for a unit on clothing or weather.

Materials:

  • 1 sheet of blue construction paper
  • 2 craft sticks(Popsicle sticks)
  • length of string
  • various clothes cut from paper
  • paper sun
  • cotton balls
  • tape
  • glue

Directions:

  1. Give each child a few paper clothes cut outs to color.
  2. Tape a length of string across the blue construction paper so it actually hangs or prepare it beforehand.
  3. Tape 2 craft sticks on either side of the string to look like a clothes line.
  4. Tape or glue clothes to the string. (an ideal template would have little paper tabs t the top to fold over the string like clothespins)
  5. Glue on a sun and cotton ball clouds in the sky.

  2. Would have loved a link or download with clothes cut out to be included. Great craft idea. I will be using this with my class when we learn about winter clothing.

  6. Hy,
This craft idea is adorable! Little hanging laundry pieces can be such a fun way to spark conversations with kids about clothing, colors, and even personal style. You could turn it into a mini “fashion day” activity where each paper outfit has its own personality or occasion. It’s interesting how early creative play connects to how we express ourselves through clothes later in life. I recently came across some beautiful real-life outfit inspiration while browsing elegant designs, and it reminded me of this activity in a grown-up way: https://bintoucouture.com/

  7. This hanging laundry craft is such a creative way to teach kids about daily routines while improving fine motor skills. I love how it turns something ordinary into a playful activity. You could even make it more fun by adding each child’s name on the tiny clothes in decorative fonts. I’ve tried generating cute Unicode name styles from https://thestylishname.com/ and they print beautifully for craft labels and classroom displays. It really adds a personal touch kids enjoy.
