You'll be flying high with this fun recycled space rocket craft made from a plastic bottle.

Materials:

  • rocket wings template including planets in the background
  • empty and washed plastic drink bottle(Gatorade)
  • silver card stock
  • scissors
  • bottom cut from an aluminum can
  • aluminum tea lite
  • battery powered tea lite
  • hot glue gun
  • plastic toy alien

Directions:

  1. Follow the link below and print out the wing templates or draw your own.
  2. Cut the wings from silver card stock and hot glue to the plastic bottle.
  3. Cu the bottom off an aluminum can as shown on the website instructions with strong scissors or a knife.
  4. Glue the can bottom to the bottom of the plastic bottle.
  5. Glue the battery powered tea lite into the can bottom for the flames.
  6. Insert a little alien in your bottle and blast off.

Variations:

To make a much simpler version of this craft, omit the aluminum can and tea lite and glue on strips of red and orange tissue paper for flames.

  1. Now my bottles at home will not directly go the the trash can. I can creatively make cute rockets out of them. My grandson will be glad for sure!
