Paper Beads Recycled Craft

This is  a super simple recycled craft that's great for Earth Day or anytime.

Materials:

• old magazines or glossy newspaper ads.
• scissors
• glue stick
• yarn or string
• a pencil

Directions:

• Cut strips out of old magazines or newspapers about 1 inch wide and 4 inches long. Cut as many strips as you want beads.
• Cover the top half of one strip with glue.
• Start at the bottom and roll the strip on a pencil all the way to the top into a tiny tube bead. Slip the bead off the pencil. Repeat as many times as necessary.
• String the beads on a length of yarn or string, tie and make a colorful bead necklace.

Father's Day Bead Drink Coster Craft

Here's a very simple Father's Day craft that even the youngest kids can do using plastic lid and beads.

Materials:

• plastic lid like from a frosting container or a Pringles can.
• white glue
• small beads

Directions:

1. The beads should be small, with a flat side, not much taller than the lid.

Bead Necklace Counting Craft

This is a bead necklace craft used for a math lesson. Students count a certain number of beads and make their necklace.

Materials:

• number cards
• large beads
• string or cord
• small paper with "I counted      "
• tape

Directions:

1. Cut string or cord for necklaces beforehand.
2. Review target numbers with cards, 1-20, for example.
3. Lat students choose one card from a pile and read the number.
4. They have to count the same number of beads to make their necklace.
5. After threading their necklace, students write the number on the strip of paper"I counted      "(the one pictured is 17) and tape to their necklace and wear it.

Paper Bead Necklace Craft

This is a simple and colorful necklace you can make from leftover pieces of construction paper.

Materials:

• length of colored string, about 15" long
• colored construction paper scraps
• skewer
• large darning needle
• gold paint in shallow dishes

Directions:

1. Tear off different colored pieces of construction paper into 7 pieces, about 4" x 4".
2. Crumple up each piece into a small, tight ball.
3. Roll the balls gently in gold paint so the colored paper still shows through. Allow to dry.
4. Use a skewer to make a hole through the center of each ball to make a bead. The teacher must do this part or at least help.
5. Thread the string through the needle and tie a knot 4" from the end. Thread the beads onto the string. Then tie a knot after the last bead. Tie the ends of the string around your neck.

Number Beads Math Craft

This is a fun and easy math craft to reinforce counting.

Materials:

• construction paper
• numbers or tracing numbers from white paper
• short lengths of pipe cleaners
• beads
• tape

Directions:

1. Glue numbers at the top of a piece of construction paper. Students trace or color the numbers.
2. Tape one end of a pipe cleaner under each number.
3. Children put the number of beads to match each number. Then tape the other end.
