Bubble Wrap Goldfish Craft

I absolutely love bubble wrap painting crafts. They can be used to make snow, craters, water bubbles, and all kinds of fish and reptile scales. Here's a shiny goldfish craft to try.

Materials:

• bubble wrap
• yellow paper
• scissors
• yellow tissue paper
• orange paint and paintbrush

Directions:

1. Cut a simple fish shape from yellow paper. One way is to fold the paper and draw half a fish on the fold and cut out.
2. Brush orange paint over the bubble wrap.
3. Press the fish shape on top of the bubble wrap for a moment and peel off. Allow to dry. 
4. Cut fish fins from yellow tissue paper and glue on the back of the fish.

Summer Beach Sand Fingerpainting Craft

Here's a cute summer beach scene craft made with sand paint. I really love the idea of mixing sand with paint. It gives it such a neat texture for fingerpainting. Some kids may not like it at first, but they usually come around after a little bit. Sand is usually colored yellow for a beach, but for this craft, I really wanted to make blue sand like the water washing up on the beach.

Materials:

• yellow construction paper
• sand
• blue paint
• shallow trays
• small crab cutout
• glue

Directions:

1. Put blue paint into shallow trays and mix sand with the paint.
2. Put a big glob of sandy paint on the yellow construction paper and let kids spread it around with their fingers. Leave a strip of yellow at the top for the beach. Allow to dry.
3. Cut a little crab or other sea creature and glue on your beach scene.



Cartesian Diver Toy Craft

I remember having a Cartesian diver toy when I was a kid. Now, you can make your own. This Cartesian diver craft comes from a Japanese site and has photos and instructions in English and Japanese. One advantage of living in Japan is when you buy sushi at a supermarket, it always includes a little soy sauce packet. These are often little plastic tubes shaped like fish. They have a resealable screw on cap and are perfect for making the little Cartesian divers. You can also buy them at the store. They need a little weight at the bottom like a nut and need enough air inside to just barely float to the surface. Put them in a sealed plastic bottle full of water. When you squeeze the bottle, they sink. You can also get fancy with some divers with little hooks and try to snag weights on the bottom like a game. Plastic Bottle Fish Lantern Craft

This is a really cool looking recycled plastic bottle fish lantern craft I found on a Japanese blog. They used a 2 liter plastic drink bottle. Unfortunately, there is no description of how the craft was made. It looks as if they glued green tissue paper strips all over the bottle. The fins and mouth appear to be other pieces of plastic likewise covered in tissue paper and glued on. The eyes might be painted bottle caps. It's a great idea. You could put a string of Christmas lights inside to make a lantern. It makes you think what other things you could make with the same idea. Summer Aquarium Fish Craft

Here's a cool Summer aquarium fish craft. You can watch your paper fish swim in their little aquarium world.

Materials:

• sheet of blue and white construction paper
• other various colors of construction paper
• cardboard
• plastic wrap
• scissors
• glue
• crayons
• hole punch
• blue thread

Directions:

1. Apply glue to the border of a sheet of blue construction paper and cover with a sheet of plastic wrap. Cut off the excess.
2. Cut a border frame for your blue sheet from cardboard and a matching frame from white construction paper.
3. Glue the cardboard frame on your blue paper.
4. Cut colorful fish from geometric shapes and punch a hole in each. Tie to a short length of blue thread.
5. Cut out green paper water plants.
6. Tape the threaded fish to the top of the frame and glue the plants to the bottom.
7. Glue the white paper frame on top of the cardboard frame.
8. Decorate the white frame with crayons.
9. Stand your aquarium up and see the fish floating.

Summer Jellyfish Plastic Plate Craft

Here's a summer jellyfish craft idea from Japan. Use green plastic plate or paint a paper plate green.

Materials:

• green plastic plate/ painted paper plate
• scissors and craft scissors
• green crepe streamers
• light green construction paper
• markers/crayons
• hole punch
• string
• glue

Directions:

1. Cut your green plate in half using zigzag craft scissors.
2. Cut a half circle to fit on the bottom of the plate. Draw a jellyfish face with eyes and spots.
3. Glue the face on the bottom of the half plate.
4. Cut long crepe streamers of equal length and glue on the opposite side of the plate for tentacles.
5. Punch a hole in the top and tie a string to hang up.

Summer Paper Clay Fish Craft

This is a cute summer fish craft from paper clay. Use interesting objects to make impressions in the clay.

Materials:

• paper clay
• paints
• interesting objects(shells, bottle caps, small toys, etc.)
• ribbon

Directions:

1. Mold your paper clay into a fish shape.
2. Press all kinds of objects into the clay to make impressions. If you press an object all the way through, remove from the hole and put on top. Press a hole in the top
3. Paint your fish. Allow to dry.
4. Tie a ribbon and hang up.

Summer Ziploc Fish Craft

This is a great summer craft idea. Use Ziploc sandwich bags to make Ziploc fish.

Materials:

Ziploc bag
colorful yarn or tissue paper
string
marker
google eyes
glue
tape


Directions:

Beforehand fold and tape the bottom corners securely, so the bottom of the bag looks like an arrow. This will become the head and mouth of the fish.
Fill your bags with colorful paper or tissue paper and seal shut.
Pinch and tie the bag near the opening with a string. The Ziploc end becomes the tail.
Draw a face with a marker and add a google eye.

Koi Nobori Carp Fish Craft

This is a cute craft that represents the Koi Nobori, carp streamers that are hung up for Boy's Day in Japan. This is a simple paper version. Fold a piece of paper for the body and cut a "v" tail. Decorate and add an eye. Finally add a hand print for a fin. Make a hole family and string them up.

Summer Jellyfish Paper Bowl Craft

Here's a great summer jellyfish craft from a paper bowl and crepe streamers. Great for a sea or beach related craft.

Materials:

• paper bowl
• paints
• paintbrushes
• sharp pencil
• string
• paperclip
• glue
• crepe streamers
• google eyes
• marker

Directions:

1. Poke a hole in the bottom of your paper bowl with a sharp pencil.
2. Completely paint the bottom of the bowl in th color of choice. Jelyfsh enerall look best in pink, purple, or blue. Allow to dry.
3. Paint some dark colored spots on your jellyfish. Allow to dry.
4. Thread a string through the hole in the bowl. Tie a paper clip to the inside end of the string. Glue or tape the paper clip on the inside of the bowl.
5. Cut 8 crepe streamers the same length.
6. Turn your bowl upside down. Glue the streamers one by one to the inside of the bowl.
7. Add google eyes and draw a mouth to complete your jellyfish

Summer Octopus Spool Craft

Make this really cute summer octopus craft from wooden spools and pipe cleaners. It's posible, too.

Materials:

• 1 wooden egg
• 8 large wooden spools(5/8" x 3/4")
• 16 medium wooden spools(1/2" x 1/2")
• 16 small wooden spools(1/2" x 3/8")
• 40 large beads
• 4 long, pink, pipe cleaners(12")
• pink, white, and black acrylic paint
• ribbon
• strong glue or glue gun
• pencil

Drections:

1. Paint wooden egg and all the spools and beads pink. Allow to dry.
2. Twist 4 pink pipe cleaners in the middle. Spread  the ends to look like an octopus.
3. For each arm of your octopus, thread on the big spool, then 2 medium spools, and 2 mall spools. Thread a bead between each spool as you go. Put a bead on after the last spool and twist the end of the pipe cleaner to secure each leg.
4. Trace and paint eyes and a mouth on your egg.
5. Glue the egg securely to the middle of your octopus.
6. Tie a ribbon around your octopus' neck.

Variation: You could adapt the same concept to make a spider craft for Halloween.

Summer Jellyfish Paper Plate Craft

Here's a simple idea for a summer jellyfish preschool craft. Great for summer, beach, or sea, related topics.

Materials:

• paper plate
• scissors
• pink paint
• eye stickers
• white and pink crepe streamers
• glue

Directions:

1. Cut a paper plate in half.
2. Give each student a half paper plate.
3. Paint the the plate all pink. Use paintbrushes or just fingers. Allow to dry.
4. Cut white and pink streamers a few inches long.
5. Glue the streamers to he back of the paper plate.
6. Add eye stickers on the front.

Recycled Fish Craft

Here's a great recycled fish craft just perfect for Earth Day or a fun summer craft.

Materials:

old cereal box
aluminum foil
scissors
glue gun
glitter glue
scrap paper, lace, m&m's, sequins, and any other decorating materials

Directions:

Cut a simple head and tail fish shape from an old cereal box.
Wrap completely in aluminum foil.
Cut and glue on little shapes, lace, and even m&m's to decorate your fish.
