Make an Uncle Sam hat to wear or as a centerpiece at your next Indeendence day party.

Materials:
- empty oatmeal container
- large paper plate
- pencil
- scissors
- red, white, and blue construction paper
- glue
- tape
Directions:
- Cut a 2.5x17.5 inch strip of blue construction paper. Turn the oatmeal container upside down and glue around the bottom. There wil probably be a small ridge around the lip of the oatmeal container opening. This can be used later to hold the brim in place.
- Cu 1x9 inch strips of red and white paper and glue around the container above the blue field.
- Cut out several white stars and glue on to the blue field. You can use the star template from the link below.
- Trace the oatmeal containr on red paper. Cut out the circle and glue to the top of the hat.
- Trace the container onto the middle of a paper plate. Cut out the circle to make the hat brim.
- Slip the brim down over the container. It should rest on the ridge of the opening. Tape in place if neccessary.
